Cashback paid out in seconds: how it works
Most cashback services pay out manually to a bank account once a month. At Sparebørsen you can request a withdrawal and have the money in your account within seconds. Here is how the payout link and the Revolut connection fit together.
Cashback sitting on a balance you cannot reach is worth little. So we have rebuilt the withdrawal step itself at Sparebørsen: from now on you can request a payout at spareborsen.no/wallet and have the money in your account, in seconds if you choose Revolut, or in 1 to 3 working days to an ordinary bank account, rather than waiting for the next payout run. This applies to every withdrawal, however much or however little you have earned. The only requirement is the same minimum as before: 100 kr of available balance.
How the payout link works
A withdrawal works in four steps:
- Request the withdrawal. Log in and go to your balance page. The minimum withdrawal is 100 kr.
- Receive a personal link by email. As soon as the request is sent, you get an email with a payout link that applies only to you and to this withdrawal.
- Confirm your name. The link asks you for your name. It has to match the name registered on your Sparebørsen account.
- Choose a bank account or Revolut. You decide where the money goes: an ordinary Norwegian bank account, or Revolut if you have it. Choose Revolut and the money arrives within seconds. Choose a bank account and the transfer follows the usual processing time.
You never give an account number to us directly at this step; you do that through the personal link, which expires after 7 days. If the link expires without being used, the amount goes back onto your balance automatically. Nothing is lost.
Why your name has to match
The requirement that the name in the payout link matches the name registered on your account is a deliberate safeguard. Every Sparebørsen user is already verified through Vipps, the Norwegian mobile payment app, when they sign up, so we know who you are. The name check at the payout step makes sure the money cannot end up with anyone other than you, even if the link were to go astray: it is worthless to anyone but the account it was issued to.
Revolut connection, now live
You can now connect your Revolut account to Sparebørsen once, and have future payouts sent straight there, without having to open an email and click through a link every time. Read the launch and see how to connect.
How does this differ from the rest of the industry?
Most cashback services collect earned cashback and run one manual payout round a month, usually to a bank account. That is a sensible model for services that have to reconcile large volumes of transactions against commission from partner shops before the money can actually be released. The difference at Sparebørsen is not in the reconciliation, which still happens before cashback becomes available on your balance, but in the withdrawal step itself. Once the cashback is approved and ready to withdraw, it does not sit waiting for the next payout date. You ask for it when you want it, and it comes straight away. That difference matters most if you have small, frequent amounts to take out, rather than building up a large balance over a long time before it feels worth the bother.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to use Revolut to get a fast payout?
No, but it is the Revolut option in the payout link that gets the money to you in seconds. Choose an ordinary bank account and the transfer follows the bank's normal processing time.
Is it safe to confirm my name in an email link?
Yes. The link is personal, limited to 7 days, and the name requirement exists precisely so that nobody other than you can use it, even if someone were to get hold of your email.
What happens if I do not use the payout link in time?
Then it expires after 7 days, and the amount is put back onto your balance automatically. You lose nothing, and can request a new withdrawal whenever you like.
